Objective
The students recognize the customer/family/community as specialists in their own life and as active participants in their own care.
The students recognize the resources of their customers.
The students help next-of-kin to participate in care taking into account and respecting the wishes and resources of the customer.
The students recognize the importance of culture in patient care.
The students determine reasons for moving and transferring patients and are able to move patients ergonomically taking into account the physical resources of the patient.
The students are able to use the most common auxiliary devices supporting participation, to move patients.
Content
Individuals, families, and communities as customers
The participation of individuals, families, and communities and methods of supporting their participation.
The meanings attributed to the patient’s experiences.
The importance of the patient’s life history, habits and situation in patient care
The impacts of health and illness on a customer’s life situation
A patient resource based approach
The significance of cultural background in dealing and interacting with patients
Ergonomic methods of support and helping patients to move
Auxiliary devices to support patient participation in daily functions
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The students can identify the patient’s physical and mental resources
