The degree consists of basic studies, professional studies, optional professional studies, free-choice studies, practical training and a thesis. The Tourism degree involves close cooperation with the sports and leisure management degree.

During the tourism degree you will study to acquire customer-oriented and holistic product development and marketing skills. The theme of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism is innovative creativity, responsible and sustainable tourism enterprise development, internationality and personal development. To develop a real hands-on approach you will carry out projects in close collaboration with tourism companies and organizations, for example by taking part in event and project management.

At the start of the degree the students will focus on gaining basic skills and knowledge after which they will apply their acquired learning. You will study to obtain comprehensive customer-oriented product development and marketing competence as well as becoming familiar with different cultures for the purposes of international tourism. The final stages of the studies emphasize using the competence gained in practice and in different types of smart solutions.

To develop competence in different areas of tourism, each of our students constructs a personal study path of further specialization studies worth 35 credits from their second year of study onwards. You can deepen your knowledge in adventure tourism or wellbeing tourism. Your personal study path can also include developing your international competence in one of our partner universities abroad or in practical training abroad or event tourism management competence. You can also choose entrepreneurship studies where you will plan setting up your own business. Your personal path will be supported by various project based studies and practical training periods. The thesis will deepen your professional competence for dealing with working life occurrences and develop a professional approach to your work.

Studying Adventure Tourism will enable you to identify the most significant summer and winter activities of nature and exercise tourism in Finland and to understand the main requirements of implementing them. You will master basic skills in different nature sports and learn to produce unique and genuine experiences for customers.

The central themes of Wellbeing Tourism are nature as a source of wellbeing and smart solutions (e.g. technology, nutrition) in wellbeing tourism.
