Objective

Students will learn what it is like to be a woman leader in Finland and what different styles and methods of leadership look like. Students will be able to consider how values and profit management are combined, and how change is controlled and predicted, with the help of the literature.

Content

Through different stories students will gain a perception of what types of women leaders exist in Finland, how leadership may develop and which issues influence the formation of leadership style.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass:

Main theme 1:
The students understand the cultural features of their operational environment and understand the background to the operational culture of their work place. They perceive the impacts of various leadership cultures on working atmosphere.
Main theme 2:
The students recognise the historical rules and regulations linked to leadership culture and can analyse and reflect upon their own experiences of the operational culture in their work place. They understand the meaning of silent knowledge.
Supplementary knowledge:
They are able to apply their awareness of various leadership methods in their own place of work.

In reference to the learning outcomes the students will possess the following knowledge and skills:
Knowledge:
Ability to use professional concepts consistently
Name, describe and justify basic knowledge concerning their chosen professional field.
Skills:
Select appropriate practices based on acquired knowledge and instruction
Assess and reflect on their abilities and the practices of their chosen professional field
Work independently and responsibly on different tasks in the given learning or operational environment
Consistently apply technologies and models suitable to their professional field
Attitudes:
Work in a customer and goal-oriented manner with a developmental approach
Work as a member of a team to achieve common goals
Give reasons for own actions based on the professional ethics of their chosen field

Students are expected to study text-based sources and write a reflective essay.
