Descriptions

The Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism leads to a Bachelor of Hospitality Management (in Finnish: Restonomi (AMK)). The studies are worth 210 credits and take 3.5 years to complete. The degree consists of basic studies, professional studies, optional professional studies, free-choice studies, practical training and a thesis. At KAMK, the School of Business includes degrees in Tourism, Business and Sports allowing you to select courses and modules from other fields as well.

At the start of the degree you will focus on gaining basic skills and knowledge after which you will apply the acquired theory into practice. You will study to obtain comprehensive customer-oriented product development and marketing competence as well as the knowledge and skills to successfully manage and develop tourism businesses. Tourism services consist of many different components, such as accommodation, catering, program and transport services, as well as event, conference and congress services. An important part of the studies are projects done in collaboration with local companies, providing you with the networks and abilities for employment after graduation. The final stages of the studies emphasize using the competence gained in practice and in different types of smart solutions.

We encourage you to develop competence in different areas of tourism and therefore to plan a personal study path. We offer you the specialization studies in hospitality management, but your personal study path may also include developing your international competence in one of our partner universities abroad, a double degree with a German partner university or practical training abroad. It is also possible to choose for example study modules from other fields, such as Arctic Sports and Tourism, Event Management or Marketing Communications.

The personal study path will be supported by various project based studies, practical training periods and also thesis. With good planning, it will be possible also to graduate sooner than in 3,5 years.
