The student:
Is aware of the legislation, strategies, and recommendations guiding services for the elderly and can describe an age-friendly service structure.
Can assess the physical, psychological, social, and cognitive functional capacity of the elderly, identify risk factors, and implement rehabilitative nursing care in multidisciplinary collaboration. Understands the significance of the RAI system in determining the service needs of the elderly. Can explain the key geriatric diseases based on evidence and provide comprehensive care for the elderly.
Understands the special characteristics of medication for the elderly and can implement and evaluate their medication management.
Can promote the health of the elderly and provide care that supports their autonomy and participation.
