Osaamistavoitteet

Ethics, professionalism and client-centered care:
The student will be able to work in accordance with nursing values, professional ethics and the principles of the nursing service profession, and be aware of the impact of legislation that governs mental health and substance abuse nursing.

Communication and multi-professionalism, patient and client safety, information technology and record keeping:
- Students will be able to interact in a professional and caring manner with clients/patients of different ages and backgrounds and their relatives.
- The student will be able to work in a multidisciplinary and multidisciplinary way in different networks.
- The student will be able to document the client/patient care process appropriately.
- The student is able to anticipate and respond appropriately to situations that threaten patient safety.

Social and health care service systems, management and staff competences, quality assurance, entrepreneurship and development:
- The student knows and is able to describe the public, private and third sector mental health and substance abuse services (service system) related to the care process of his/her own client (or the area) and is familiar with the AA/NA peer group.

Clinical nursing, counselling and teaching skills and self-care support, promoting health and functional capacity:
- The student knows and justifies guidance and care activities (e.g. relationship work, mini-intervention, motivational interviewing, dialogue, exercise, nutrition, culture, nature) in a client-oriented way, promoting the client's resources and participation.
- The student will be able to implement the client's medication in accordance with the mandate given and will be able to describe the psychiatric groups and their specific characteristics.

Evidence-based practice, use of research evidence and decision making:
- The student will be able to define nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate the care of client' based on evidence and be able to implement a Research Club (in collaboration with the staff of the unit) using research evidence.

The student's actions are guided by the values and principles of nursing as well as the legislation related to professional practice. They justify the significance of these in mental health and substance abuse care.
The student reflects on the development of their competence in relation to their personal learning objectives and assessment criteria.
The student's reflective self-assessment is based on evidence-based information, and the evidence (sources) is presented in the self-assessment.

Communication and multidispinarism, Patient and Client Safety, Information Technology, and Documentation:
The student acts in a trustworthy manner in client-centered interactions.
The student works in/with multidisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration.
The student documents and reports appropriately, taking into account the legislation and guidelines related to documentation.
The student promotes and ensures patient and client safety at all stages of the care process.

Social and Healthcare Service System, Leadership and Employee Skills, Quality Assurance, and Entrepreneurship and Development:
The student recognizes and understands the significance of the mental health and substance abuse care service system and can describe the care and service chain with examples.
The student has participated in an open AA/NA group and recognizes the functioning of peer groups.

Clinical Nursing, Guidance and Teaching Skills, Self-Care Support, Health, and Functional Capacity Promotion:
The student identifies the client's resources and provides individualized and resource-oriented care.
The student uses appropriate methods for client guidance, and the guidance is client-centered.
The student can implement and evaluate the medication treatment of mental health and substance abuse clients according to given authorizations and understands their responsibility in its execution.
The student identifies psychotropic drug groups and the specific features of psychotropic medication treatment.
The student applies their knowledge of major mental health disorders, psychiatric diseases, and related nursing methods.

Evidence-Based Practice, Utilization of Research Information, and Decision-Making:
The student applies evidence-based care recommendations in their actions and decision-making.
The student searches for evidence-based information from reliable databases and conducts a research club.
The student, with the assistance of their supervisor, defines the care needs for their client, plans, implements, and evaluates the care.

Ethics, Professionalism, and Client-Centeredness:
The student breaches confidentiality.
The student acts against the ethical values and principles of the nursing profession and the legislation related to professional practice.
The student's personal learning objectives are missing, or the self-assessment is superficial, without evidence-based sources.

Communication, multidisplinarism, and Documentation:
The student is indifferent in interaction situations.
The student is unable to work in multidisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration.
Documentation and reporting are inadequate and do not comply with unit guidelines.
The student continuously endangers patient safety through their actions and behaves indifferently towards safety in situations.

Social and Healthcare Service System, Leadership and Employee Skills, Quality Assurance, and Entrepreneurship and Development:
The student does not recognize the significance of the service system in mental health and substance abuse care.
The student has not participated in an open AA/NA group.

Clinical Nursing, Guidance and Teaching Skills, Self-Care Support, Health, and Functional Capacity Promotion:
The student ignores the client's resources and meets the client or relatives with indifference.
The selected nursing actions do not meet the client's care needs or are not based on evidence-based information.
The student acts indifferently when implementing medication treatment. The need for client-centered guidance is not recognized or implemented.

Evidence-Based Practice, Utilization of Research Information, and Decision-Making:
The student does not utilize care recommendations in guidance, decision-making, and phases of the care process.
The research club is not conducted.
