Objective

Ethics, Professionalism, and Client-Centeredness. The student:
Can work according to the values, ethical principles, and guidelines of nursing and can evaluate their implementation in daily work.
Can respect the client/patient and engage with them as the expert and agent of their own life, also considering their relatives.

Communication and professionalism, Patient and Client Safety, and Information Technology and Documentation. The student:
Can communicate, work, and share expertise with multidisciplinary teams involved in care, as well as with clients/patients and their relatives.
Can act to promote patient safety and prevent adverse events at all stages of the patient's care process.

Social and Healthcare Service System, Leadership and Employee Skills, Quality Assurance, and Entrepreneurship and Development. The student:
Can describe and work within the entire care and service chain of an acutely ill patient.
Is capable of reflecting with the work community to identify areas for development in their work and to evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care.
Can prioritize work tasks and apply their skills according to the situation.

Clinical Nursing, Guidance and Teaching Skills, Self-Care Support, Health, and Functional Capacity Promotion. The student:
Can plan, implement, evaluate, and develop acute nursing care by utilizing evidence-based information.
Can systematically assess the need for urgent care for a patient and act in situations requiring immediate care and emergencies.

Evidence-Based Practice, Utilization of Research Information, and Decision-Making. The student:
Can evaluate and apply care guidelines and utilize the latest evidence-based information in decision-making and the development of acute nursing care

Ethics, professionalism and customer focus:
Pass
- The students demonstrate understanding and adherence to nursing values, ethical principles and guidelines in practical situations.
- The student will identify potential ethical problems and resolve them in a professional manner.
- The student demonstrates a client-oriented and respectful attitude when meeting the client/patient, including consideration of the relatives.
- The student recognises the individual needs and resources of the client/patient and takes them into account in the planning and delivery of care.

Fail
- The student acts contrary to the values, ethical principles and guidelines of nursing.
- The student has not demonstrated the ability to value the client/patient and to treat him/her as an expert and actor in his/her own life, taking into account also the people close to him/her.
- The student has not been able to take into account the relatives in the care of the client/patient.
- The student's perceptions of the client's/patient's individual needs and resources are inadequate and are not taken into account in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care.

Communication and multidisciplinarity, patient and client safety, information technology and documentation.
Pass
- The student works in collaboration with the patient, family and other health professionals. He/she communicates in a clear, factual and professional manner.
- The student demonstrates an understanding of patient safety principles and practices. They identify and understand the different types of incidents and how to prevent them.

Fail
- The student does not know how to interact with patients, relatives or other health care professionals. His/her communication is unprofessional.
- The student does not understand the principles and practices of patient safety or has difficulty in identifying and understanding the different types of incidents and how to prevent them.


Service delivery, management and workforce competences, quality assurance, entrepreneurship and development in the social and health care sector
Pass:
- The student will be able to explain the stages of the care and service chain for acutely ill patients and their role in it, and apply theoretical knowledge to support decision-making and action.
- The student will be able to identify areas for improvement in his/her own work and in the quality of nursing care and to make proposals for their improvement.
- Receive and use feedback to improve their own practice.
- Be able to prioritise their work and adapt their competences to different situations.

Fail:
- Cannot explain the care and service chain for acutely ill patients or does not recognise his/her role and responsibilities in it.
- The student does not know how to give or receive feedback or reflect on his/her own learning or performance. They do not make suggestions for improving the quality of nursing care.
- The student is unable to receive feedback or is unable to change his/her practice in response to feedback.
- Is unable to prioritise his/her work appropriately or to apply his/her knowledge as required by the situation.

Clinical nursing, counselling and teaching skills and self-care support, promoting health and functional capacity
Pass:
- The student plans, implements, evaluates and develops acute nursing care by using and applying evidence-based knowledge. They will be familiar with the key concepts, methods and principles of acute care. They are able to apply them to different patient situations and settings.
- Students will systematically assess the need for urgent patient care and respond to immediate and emergency situations.

Fail:
- The student is unable to plan, implement, evaluate or develop acute care work using evidence-based knowledge. The student is unable to apply evidence-based knowledge to patient or client situations.
- The student does not recognise the need for urgent patient care or does not know how to act in a controlled manner in immediate or emergency situations.

Evidence-based practice, use of research evidence and decision making
Pass:
- The student uses evidence-based state-of-the-art knowledge in acute care decision-making and practice development and demonstrates the ability to assess the reliability and relevance of the knowledge to practice.

Fail:
- The student is unable to use evidence-based, state-of-the-art knowledge in acute care decision-making and practice development or does not demonstrate interest or motivation to acquire or evaluate knowledge.
- The student does not actively seek to develop his/her own professional competence.
- The student has a negative attitude towards professional development/development work.
