Osaamistavoitteet

The student:
Applies key medical knowledge of the most common internal diseases and cancers in nursing care.
Understands the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in ensuring patient safety and high-quality care for internal medicine patients.
Provides evidence-based nursing care for patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, neurological, renal, rheumatic, and infectious diseases.
Can guide and support patients and their families in disease management, self-care, and lifestyle changes.
Understands the principles of infection prevention and provides safe care for patients with infectious diseases, such as erysipelas, tuberculosis, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections.
Applies the principles of wound care and manages the treatment of chronic wounds.
Performs key nursing interventions and uses monitoring methods relevant to the care of internal medicine patients.
Acts appropriately in acute situations and is able to perform advanced life support (CPR).
Capable of taking an Electrocardiogram and recognise the most common cardiac rhythms and abnormalities.

Performs key interventions and monitoring methods with exceptional accuracy.
Acts decisively and calmly in acute situations, demonstrating strong advanced life support competence.
Takes ECGs confidently and interprets rhythms and abnormalities accurately, including more challenging cases.

Meets the minimum course requirements.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of common internal diseases and cancers but applies knowledge in a limited or inconsistent way.
Recognises the role of collaboration and patient safety but participates passively.
Provides safe but routine nursing care for patients with common conditions (cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, renal, neurological, rheumatic, infectious) with supervision.
Can give basic guidance to patients and families but with limited adaptation to individual needs.
Demonstrates basic infection prevention measures but occasionally lacks precision.
Performs wound care and key nursing interventions at a minimum acceptable level.
Responds to acute situations with support, showing partial knowledge of advanced life support.
Can take an ECG but struggles to interpret rhythms beyond the most obvious abnormalities.
