Objective

The students will learn which tasks are the responsibility of the planners, the building work inspectors and the site foreman. They will learn to perceive the differences and areas of responsibility between on-site and monitoring by the authorities. They will be able to perceive the opportunities for cooperation and responsibilities of different stakeholders in a building project. They will learn to understand the significance of leadership, communication and interaction skills in building project management. They will be able to interpret various building documents.

Content

Official monitoring and building site monitoring. Size and level of complexity of the building site and activities pertaining to the Land Use and Building Act in relation to the site. Site manager activities and cooperation with the client, inspector, subcontractors, officials and planners. The special features of leading a building project. Responsibilities and duties of the site manager.
Building site meetings, official advice and related documentation. Special features of the site foreman's work.

The students are able to work as site foremen/managers in a building project.

The students are able to work in cooperation with various building stakeholders. They are able to independently interpret which permits and regulations must be followed in different types of building projects. They are able to submit the required notices and apply for permits for various types of building projects.
