Objective

Description of the practical training period:
Advanced practical training is divided into two parts. It starts in the spring and will continue in the autumn. The students choose a practical training place according to their professional interests in the social services field. They will be introduced to the key practices, principles, guidelines and regulations governing service activities at the beginning of the training period. If the practical training place is unfamiliar to the student, they will become familiar with the activities of the work community during the first week. If the student is already familiar with the practical training environment, they will have 1-2 working days to become orientated. If a student wishes to complete the social services qualification required by the Early Childhood Education Act as part of the social services degree, at least half of the advanced training must be completed, i.e. 10 ECTS, in an early childhood education environment. Social services students can complete the advanced practical training in the environment of their choice or in an early childhood education environment.

Objectives of the practical training:
The goals are determined through the competencies of social services professionals so that the students define 5 specific goals for themselves, which they aim to achieve in their internship. The goals chosen by the students based on the competencies are those that strengthen their professional orientation and / or are objectives that they still want to strengthen at this stage of their studies.

After the orientation, the students will be active participants in the work community and are regularly supervised at work when necessary. The aim of the advanced practical training period is to support the practical application of knowledge acquired during the basic and professional studies of the social services degree within practical social services or educational contexts. The students are supervised regularly but during the practical training they participate fully in the work and tasks of their work placement. The students work holistically to implement the key tasks and services of the profession. The students strengthen their competence as an expert in customer work and ethical practices. They will have the opportunity to meet and guide clients in different situations, in multi-professional networks and, depending on the nature of the work, also in different physical and digital environments. The students will practice various methods of guidance and / or rehabilitation. The students will strengthen their service system skills. They will understand the legislation underlying the service and, in accordance with the type of service they will also gain experience in the work of key stakeholders and cooperate with them in advocacy workto support clients. They will be able to assess their own professionalism and ability to engage with and guide the client as a social services professional, as well as their ability to act as a member of the work community. The students will become involved in the development work of the work community and produce and evaluate service information to develop their work. The students can combine the practical training period with the development assignment for the Developing Social Services coures, the content of which they will have agreed with their supervisor in the work placement. During the internship, the students will also become acquainted with the processes that are central to management and and the role of managers in defining strategic goals and creating a wellbeing work community.

- plan, implement and evaluate a pedagogical unit / project in or for a group of children.
- be able to work purposefully and reflectively.
- be able to promote children's inclusion, cooperation and play.
- be able to support the growth of individuals and to support families and parenting and utilize professionally impactful and justified working methods.
- be able to work in a culturally sensitive manner with children and families, promoting educational cooperation.
- be able to manage and act in accordance with the documentation of early childhood education and information security and customer safety.
- will know early childhood education partners and will master working with people from different disciplines and in networks and are able to work as members of a multidisciplinary team to support the growth of different families and children.
- be able to play a consultative role in the work community to promote the well-being of children and families.

Professional Practical Training 15 cr
A total of at least 120 credits in the social services study program

The length of the practical training period is 540 hours, i.e. 14.5 weeks (depending on hours/week)
