Objective

Students will be able to understand the functioning and structure of the human body so as to be able to use this knowledge in client oriented sports instruction, health promotion and exercise behaviour reinforcement.

Content

Cells, tissue, skeleton, muscles
Blood, circulation, the body's immune system, respiration
Digestion, urination, fluid balance, heat thermoregulation
Hormone secretion, reproduction
Sensory and nervous system, control of movement and posture and the senses

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students know the contents of the main themes in detail and understand the connections between the functions of different organ systems with regulation systems. They are proficient in measuring basic bodily functions and in interpreting the results, being able to analyse the body's condition and applying this information and knowledge in a customer-oriented manner.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students know the contents of the main themes in detail. They are proficient in the functioning of the locomotor system, the respiratory and blood circulation organs and how they connect with the regulation system. They are able to conduct basic measurements concerning bodily functions but their interpretation of the results and analysis may display deficiencies. They are able to use their basic knowledge in a customer-oriented manner.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students the contents of the main theme as a whole. They are particularly proficient in the functioning and structure of the locomotor system and the circulatory organs but are not able to perceive entirely accurately how different organ systems work together. They are capable of measuring bodily functions but their interpretation of the results and analysis of the body's condition as well as their management of detail may be deficient though sufficient enough for working with customers.
