Objective

Students will gain a general overview of the opportunities provided by NC technology in production and will be able to create effective NC programmes for basic machine tools.

Content

NC machines and their structures
The use and function of NC machines
NC programming
NC machinery in its own environment
The maintenance and servicing of NC machinery

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to compile and repair NC programmes independently and interpret their functions in NC machines. They are able to assess machining errors and the reasons for such errors. The students are able to plan the sourcing of add-ons for NC devices and increasing production efficiency.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to interpret NC software and its functions in the NC device to a high degree. They are able to operate the NC device independently. The students are able to optimise the NC software if needed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are proficient in the basic terms of NC technology and are able to interpret NC code and related functions in the NC device. The students are able to work on the device under supervision or as part of a group.
