Objective
Students will develop and strengthen language skills acquired during previous courses in order to be able to cope with their compulsory professional language studies. The aim is also to develop language learning skills.
Content
Basic grammar and vocabulary
Activation of speaking and writing skills as well as reading and listening comprehension.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student can use a variety of grammar structures demonstrating a high degree of accuracy. They are able to pronounce English naturally and clearly and understand relatively easily people speaking in different accents. They can react quickly and appropriately to what another person in a discussion says. They are able to produce written text fluently using an appropriate style and with a minimal amount of errors.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The students use grammatical structures and demonstrate a fair degree of accuracy and can correct their language mistakes if they cause misunderstanding. They are able to pronounce English quite naturally and clearly and can understand different accents if the topic of discussion is familiar. They react for the most part in an appropriate manner to the discourse of their partners in discussion and they can produce fairly clear and fluent written text.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The students can use simple grammatical structures. They often pronounce English so that they can be understood and understand the main points of what someone speaking at normal speed in a familiar context is saying , when the message is repeated if necessary. They are able to react in some way to what their partner in a discussion is saying. They can write texts that can more or less be understood.
