Students will be able to use derivative for examining how functions work and for use with engineering tasks.

Review of basic algebra calculations
Derivative and function growth rate
Examination of function graphs and extreme values
Applications in engineering

The students understand the basics of differentials and integrals. They are able to use calculus fluently for applied tasks.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are proficient in the derivation rules of basic functions. They are able to express verbal tasks mathematically and apply derivative to them and critically examine the results. They understand the basics of error assessment.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are proficient in the concepts of derivative and differentials, the derivation rules of basic functions and the application of derivative to basic tasks.
