Objective

Students will understand the significance of safety in nursing. They will be competent in predicting potentially violent situations and in dealing with such situations within the law and in an ethically approved way.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students are able to use the concepts of safety expertly and in a wide range of situations, combining them to form an overall perception. They know how to analyse, compare, combine and select information and can present alternative safety-related procedures. The students are able to select and critically safety practices and use them in their own work. The students are able to reflect upon their own abilities and safety related issues using acquired knowledge. The students can critically apply professional ethical principles to their own work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to systematically use the concepts of safety. They are able to describe and give reasons for basic safety related theory. The students are able to select appropriate safety procedures based on acquired knowledge and guidance. The students are able to use techniques and models appropriate to safety promotion. They are able to reflect upon their own abilities and assess safety related issues. They can also justify their actions according to the professional ethical principles of nursing.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to use fundamental/individual concepts of safety and can name and iterate basic safety knowledge. They are able to use safety promotion techniques and models correctly and take their customers into consideration. The students can assess their own abilities and safety related issues. Their work complies with the professional ethical principles of nursing.
