Objective

Students will be proficient in examining and assessing a patient being able to recognise any deviations in normal bodily functions and the condition of the patient. Students will be proficient in taking samples required when patients are undergoing the examination and treatment process. Students will know the most common clinical chemical and haematological investigations and factors that cause variations in laboratory test results. Students will understand the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of radiation in nursing and how it affects the human body. Students will be competent in counselling patients to, during and about different interventions and examinations while taking into account patient safety during examination.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students are able to use the concepts of their professional field expertly and in a wide range of situations, combining them to form an overall perception. They know how to analyse, compare, combine and select information and can present alternative procedures. The students are able to analyse, reflect upon and critically assess their own abilities and the practices of their own profession using acquired knowledge. They are able to work independently, responsibly, with initiative and flexibly in every type of learning and operational environment. The students are proficient in selecting and critically assessing the techniques and models of their professional field and can use them in their work. They are able to work in a customer and goal oriented manner with a developmental approach to working life. They can work as part of a team and develop the team's work and can critically apply professional ethical principles to their own work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to systematically use the concepts of their professional field. They are able to name, describe and give reasons for the basic knowledge of their professional field. The students are able to select appropriate procedures based on acquired knowledge and guidance. They are able to reflect upon and assess their own abilities and the practices of their professional field while being proficient in working independently and responsibly in different roles in all types of learning and operational environments. The students are able to use techniques and models appropriate to the work of their professional field and to work with customers in a professional manner. The students can work as members of teams to achieve the team's common goals. They can also justify their actions according to professional ethical principles.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to use fundamental/individual concepts of their professional field and can name and iterate basic nursing knowledge. They are able to work in an appropriate manner though a certain amount of uncertainty is apparent. The students are able to work under supervision in different learning and operational environments. They are able to take customers into account. The students can work as a member of a team taking other members of the team into consideration. Their work complies with professional ethical principles.
