Objective

Students will be able to work as an expert in exercise for the aged and will be a qualified coach for seniors authorised by the Age Institute.

Content

Health and well-being promotion for the aging population
Changes in health and physical and mental capacity during aging
Physical exercises and fitness testing for the aged
Nutrition counselling for the aged

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to assess and develop exercise promotion methods for the aging population. They are able to work as exercise for the elderly experts using a comprehensive knowledge base. They work independently and critically assess their own work. They are able to organise a group's activities.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to apply customer-oriented advice and counselling methods when instructing the elderly. They are able to conduct exercise and nutrition instruction based on their theoretical knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to explain the significance of exercise to health and wellbeing. They are able to define the changes in health and capability that occur during aging. They are able to describe the principles of exercise instruction and nutrition counselling for the elderly. They are able to carry out fitness testing of the elderly safely and to a high standard.
