Objective

The students will master the content of the dances included in the course material. They will be able to plan, instruct and assess senior dances. The students will be able to recognise the health impacts and benefits of such dances on the physical and mental capabilities of the elderly. This course provides students with the competences to establish a senior dance group and to progress in the senior dance instructor and coach system as they wish.

Content

The content of the course is based on the training system devised by Suomen Kansainvälinen Senioritanssin Liitto (The International Senior Dance Association of Finland) and the Age Institute and separate certificates are awarded when the courses have been accomplished.
- Senior Dance basic and intermediate course I dances
- The significance of senior dance to the physical and mental capabilities of the elderly
- Instructing a senior dance group
- Establishing a new group

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass: The students will be able to use senior dance concepts systematically. They are able to work independently and responsibly as instructors of senior dance. The students work in a customer and goal oriented manner.

Please note that the students must purchase the material themselves and it is based on the criteria for Instructor training set out by Suomen Kansainvälinen Senioritanssiliitto (The International Senior Dance Association of Finland) and the Age Institute. The material will be ordered in advance for those who enrol for this course.
