Objective

The students will master the different components and operating principles of a microcontroller-based system and will understand how a microcontroller-based device functions.

Content

Basic structure, internal functioning and register structure of a microcontroller
Memory circuits
Circuit choice
How the microcontroller and its key I/O circuits function
Programming with C
Supervised lab exercises and projects

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to retrieve information independently and apply it to microcontroller connections

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to plan, analyse and programme microcontroller connections.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students know the principles of the structure and functioning of microcontrollers.
