Objective

Students will be able to communicate using written and spoken English using different communication tools in tourism related situations. They will be able to apply for work and practical training places abroad.

Content

Tourism company communication (reservations, confirmations, cancellations, changes, complaints)
Payment transactions
Negotiations
Job and practical training place applications

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

-Can communicate fluently on topics relating to the industry orally and in writing
-Pronounces and articulates clearly
-Reacts in an appropriate manner and quickly
-Understands the main contents and details in a text and can analyse the text
-Uses structures correctly and proficiently
-Can write business letters with skill and proficiency
-Can make good arguments and proposals in meetings, negotiations and other such gatherings as well as writing an extensive summing-up.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

-Can communicate moderately well on topics relating to the industry orally and in writing
-Pronounces and articulates understandably most of the time
-Reacts in an appropriate manner but more slowly
-Understands the main contents in a text and can analyse it to some extent
-Some errors in structures
-Can write business letters reasonably well but uses fewer phrases
-Can make arguments and proposals in meetings, negotiations and other such gatherings to some extent and write a shorter summing-up

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Can communicate using simple structures and language on topics related to the industry orally and in writing
-Pronounces and articulates rather poorly which makes understanding very difficult
-Reacts slowly and perhaps even in an inappropriate manner
-Understands texts only to a limited extent
-Several errors in structures
-Can write short basic letters but phrases are missing or they are scarce
-Can make very few arguments and proposals in meetings and negotiations, can write a very short summing-up.
