Objective

Students will be able to explain the main features of a strategy and its central concepts. They will know the significance of international tourism strategies and be able to discuss the significance and impacts of Finland's (TEM and MEK) and regional tourism strategies in developing tourism.

Finland's tourism strategy and image
Provincial and regional tourism strategies
Strategies and master plans of tourism resorts
Future thinking in tourism and basic concepts of future research

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to expertly and systematically explain the main features of the strategy process, their main concepts and strategic actors in tourism planning. They are able to expertly and extensively explain the significance of international tourism strategies. They are able to expertly and extensively explain the significance of Finland's national and regional tourism strategies on tourism developments and their impact on the operations of tourism companies and their development. They able to explain the significance of project activities on tourism development professionally, extensively and analytically. They are able to expertly and extensively explain the importance of forecasting ability and proactive thinking and activity in strategic planning in tourism. They possess an excellent knowledge of the main methods and concepts of dealing with future trends. They are able to work as group members promoting and developing the group's activities to attain common goals and to apply professional ethical principles in their work.

They are able to systematically and clearly explain the significance of international tourism strategies. They are able to explain well the significance of Finland's national and regional tourism strategies on tourism developments and their impact on the operations of tourism companies and their development. They able to explain well the significance of project activities on tourism development. They are able to explain well the importance of forecasting ability and proactive thinking and activity in strategic planning in tourism. They possess a good knowledge of the main methods and concepts of dealing with future trends. They are able to work well as group members to attain common goals and can justify their work according to professional ethical principles.
