Course unit code: TR00BI36

General information

Credits
3 cr

Objective

Students will understand the main structure of automation systems, their cable systems and data transfer mechnisms.

Content

Sensor technology
Programmable controllers
Digital instrumentation systems
Pneumatic instrumentation systems
Remote control systems

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are proficient in instrumentation symbols and device positioning and they know how to measure different quantities (temperature, pressure, differential pressure, mass flow rate, concentration, etc.). They know which factors affect the accuracy of measurements and are able to determine other field equipment. The students are able to apply, dimension and select the measurement and field equipment for the tuning, control and monitoring of an automation system as well as being able to draw up lists of process equipment and operating reports.
