Objective

• The student knows the development history of the Finnish welfare state
• The student understands the structures that cause inequality and harm, as well as the diversity of social problems.
• The student can structure local and global challenges related to well-being and sustainable development and their effects on social and health care.
• The student understands the protective and risk factors of the welfare state
• The student knows the methods of preventive work and early intervention and knows how to prevent marginalization.
• The student knows how to do structured social work
• The student knows the means of including and empowering the disadvantaged and promoting opportunities for participation

• Basic concepts of welfare policy
• Models and development trends of the welfare state
• risks to citizens' well-being and social problems, as well as structures that produce inequality and disadvantage
• local and global challenges related to well-being and sustainable development and their effects on social and health care
• the role of state, municipal and civil society actors in supporting well-being and social change work
• structural social work
• means of inclusion and empowerment of people in a weak position
• promoting opportunities for participation
