Objective
This is a foundational course concerning the workforce trends in an increasing diverse and multicultural society. The importance of understanding cultural and demographic similarities/differences and how this can be leveraged effectively in an organization is becoming more essential in today’s organizational environments. The course aims to help students develop interpersonal competencies, and management practices for leading and managing diverse and multi-cultural teams. This is especially important in this globalized, interconnected world. Through the various tasks, participants will explore the personal, interpersonal, organizational, and cultural dimensions of being an effective leader capable of leveraging diversity at multiple levels. Participants will explore the theory and practices related to diversity management, intercultural leadership, and organizational behaviours. Participants will learn the basics of leadership models and management theories and apply these with an international mind set within the intercultural context.
