Objective

The students will be familiar with various surface treatment methods and their quality requirements. The students will be able to interpret painting work reports, colour schemes and room cards. They will be able to select surface treatment products that are similar in properties and quality.

Different forms of surface treatment and methods
Internal and external painting work
Fascia surfaces
Wood as an interior decorating material
Wallpapering and carpeting
Selecting colours and impact on space
Surface treatment methods for renovating and maintenance and different surfaces.
Surface treatment quality systems and standards.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to compile surface treatment plans and recognise the environmental and quality requirements of structures and products. They are able to take the psychological aspects of colours into account when planning a colour scheme.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to independently compile painting reports and choose suitable treatment schemes for different sites. They are able to explain the physical and chemical impacts of different surface treatment methods on a structure. They are able to select products of different qualities for surface treatment.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are familiar with different surface treatment methods and the features of surface treatment materials. They are able to interpret various painting work reports and room cards. They know the significance of colours in a building environment and can identify the effects of different chemicals on health.
