Objective
The students will be able to engage in dialogue with a people of working age in crisis, with people suffering from mental health problems and addiction, and are able to support them in a needs-based, resource-oriented and inclusive manner, in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care in cooperation with those involved in treatment. The students will be able to utilize electronic health services.

In accordance with competence attainment targets, the students are able to:
• use the key concepts used in mental health and substance abuse work
• describe the key legislation regulating mental health care and the care of substance abuse clients and apply this knowledge when describing the client/patient care process.
• apply knowledge when guiding and referring patients to treatment and apply versatile and critical evidence-based knowledge when nursing patients and to support self-care.
• explain how a crisis progresses and can analyse the connection between crisis and mental health
• describe the medical treatment of psychiatric diseases and substance abuse problems critically and from a variety of perspectives.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In accordance with competence attainment targets, the students are able to:
• use the key concepts used in mental health and substance abuse work
• describe key legislation regulating mental health care and the care of substance abuse clients
• apply knowledge when guiding and referring patients to treatment and apply evidence-based knowledge when nursing patients and to support self-care.
• explain how a crisis progresses and how crisis is connected to mental health
• describe the medical treatment of mental illness and substance abuse problems.
