Objective

The students will be able to use core tourism English vocabulary. They will be able to engage in interaction with customers from different cultures and are able to present resorts and destinations, and their services to clients.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to discuss topics related to their field fluently, using field-specific concepts.
The students are able to react quickly and appropriately. The students are able to communicate in a style appropriate to the situation.
The students are able to write fluently and use versatile structures almost flawlessly. The students are able to use natural intonation and clear articulation.
The students are able to understand not only the main content but also the details of field-specific texts. The students are able to communicate fluently in customer service situations, find solutions to problems and can communicate them to clients naturally.
The students are able to search for information and use different sources to search for information.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to discuss topics related to their field reasonably fluently using some concepts in the field.
The students are able to react spontaneously and appropriately in different situations.
The students are usually able to communicate in a style appropriate to the situation. The students can write quite fluently and clearly.
The students can use intonation and articulation reasonably clearly.
The students are able to understand the main content and some details of the texts in their field.
The students are able to use the structures mainly correctly and corrects any erroneous expressions that cause misunderstandings.
The students are able to communicate reasonably in customer service situations, resolve problem situations and communicate solutions to the customer naturally.
The students are able to search for information using sources if necessary.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to cope with simple conversational situations using tourism-specific concepts to some extent.
The students are able to react in simple routine situations in an appropriate manner.
The students are somewhat aware of the style requirements used in different genres. The students can write mostly understandable texts.
The students are able to understand the main points of normal-tempo speech in a familiar context. The students are able to pronounce intelligibly, even if their articulation is incomplete.
The students can communicate in customer service situations so that the message is conveyed in some way, communication of solutions to problems is minimal.
The students are able to use the most readily available sources.
The students can use simple structures or, if more advanced ones are used, there are a lot of mistakes in them.

To be awarded a grade 1, all assessed assignments must be completed and approved and any possible exam result must be at least 50%.
