Study Guide

Objective

The students will be able to engage in dialogue with a people of working age in crisis, with people suffering from mental health problems and addiction, and are able to support them in a needs-based, resource-oriented and inclusive manner, in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care in cooperation with those involved in treatment. The students will be able to utilize electronic health services.

Basics of mental health and substance abuse:

Transactional analytical interaction theory (abstract in English)
Legislation
Mental health and substance abuse services (public, private, third sector, electronic services)
Supporting people in crisis:
Crisis work
Mental and physical human resource-based nursing of people with mental health problems and / or addiction(s) (part of the material is in English):
Nursing depression
Nursing self-destructive people
Nursing people with eating disorders
Nursing people with addiction problems
Nursing people suffering from psychotic symptoms and psychosis

Mental health and substance abuse support methods (part of the material is in English):

In accordance with competence attainment targets, the students are able to:

• use the key concepts used in mental health and substance abuse work
• describe the key legislation regulating mental health care and the care of substance abuse clients and apply this knowledge when describing the client/patient care process.
• apply knowledge when guiding and referring patients to treatment and apply versatile and critical evidence-based knowledge when nursing patients and to support self-care.
• explain how a crisis progresses and can analyse the connection between crisis and mental health
• describe the medical treatment of psychiatric diseases and substance abuse problems critically and from a variety of perspectives.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In accordance with competence attainment targets, the students are able to:

• use the key concepts used in mental health and substance abuse work
• describe key legislation regulating mental health care and the care of substance abuse clients
• apply knowledge when guiding and referring patients to treatment and apply evidence-based knowledge when nursing patients and to support self-care.
• explain how a crisis progresses and how crisis is connected to mental health
• describe the medical treatment of mental illness and substance abuse problems.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)

In accordance with competence attainment targets, the students are able to:

• describe the key concepts used in mental health and substance abuse work
• recount the key legislation regulating mental health care and the care of substance abuse clients
• recount the process of customer referral to treatment and identify evidence-based knowledge used in patient care and to support self-care
• describe how a crisis progresses
• recount the medical treatment of the most common mental illnesses and substance abuse problems.

Assessment methods and criteria

Yhteistoiminnallinen tentti arvioidaan 0-5. Mikäli ei halua osallistua yhteistoiminnalliseen tenttiin, voi ilmoittautua yksilötenttiin uusintapäivänä.
Muut osasuoritukset hyväksytty (H3) - hylätty.

Opintojakson kokonaisarvosana muodostuu tentin arvosanasta.
Opintojakso on hyväksytty, kun kaikki osasuoritukset ovat koossa hyväksyttyinä.
