Objective
- The student is familiar with the service system for the elderly and the related legislation.
- The student can assess the physical, mental, social, and cognitive functioning of older adults and identify factors that may pose a risk to their functional capacity.
- The student is knowledgeable about the basic principles of rehabilitation in elderly services.
- The student understand the content of assessing service needs.
- The student can provide advice and guidance to older adults.
- The student can promote the well-being and participation of older adults.
- The student can identify the strengths of older adults and enhance them.

Content
- The service system for the elderly and the legislation and recommendations that guide it.
- Functional changes related to aging.
- Assessment of service needs and different measures of functional capacity (e.g., RAI).
- Methods for guiding the elderly.
- Supporting a good and active old age and engaging with the elderly.
- Ethical considerations in service provision and facing death together with the client.
- Interprofessional collaboration and collaboration with relatives/caregivers.
- Accessibility and factors that support well-being.
