Objective

The students will adopt an entrepreneurial attitude, learn to understand fundamental business concepts and processes and the significance of business operations in society. The students will also be able to describe the basic functions of a company and understand the basics of running a profitable business.

Teaching methods

The course is completed by doing a final project in groups (1-5 people), and students are also required to attend at least 80% of the course sessions. Attendance is also tracked through participation in class activities. Student can additionally influence their course grade by taking an exam, which can raise the grade by up to 0.5 points. However, a grade of 0 on the course project cannot be improved by taking the exam.

Excellent (5)
The students are able to use business concepts extensively and combine them.
The students are able to analyse, compare, and critically assess their own business competence and business practices using acquired knowledge. They can work as a group advancing and developing the group's activities.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to describe and give reasons for business and entrepreneurial practices. They are able to work independently according to existing knowledge and guidelines and can apply business methods and models in business operations. The students are able to work as group to achieve common goals and to justify their activities according to professional ethical principles.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to define and use fundamental business concepts in accordance with professional ethical principles.

Assessment criteria 0-5.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Student does not participate in the final project or fails to meet the attendance requirement will not pass the course.
Additionally, a final project that falls significantly below quality standards may also be considered as failed.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to widely use and combine business concepts with expertise and can analyse, compare and critically assess their own business competence and forms and methods of business using acquired knowledge. The students are able to work as members of a group/team, promoting and developing the work of the group.

The final project's quality is considered as excellent.

The students are able to systematically use business concepts. They are able to use, name and justify business and entrepreneurial practices. The students are able to work independently based on information and instructions and can apply business techniques and models. The students are able to work as members of a group to achieve common goals and can give reasons for their actions based on professional ethical principles.

The final project's quality is considered as good.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to define and use basic business concepts as required according to professional ethical principles. They are able name and describe basic business information. The students are able to work appropriately though their actions may display uncertainty.

The final project's quality is considered as satisfactory.

Prerequisites

The course assumes no prior knowledge of business.
