Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are familiar with the various ways of processing wood for preservation purposes and factors to be considered when selecting wood materials. They are able to choose appropriate timber materials from a building life-cycle and ecological perspective and are proficient in the various opportunities for applying wood materials for different uses. They are able to perceive the life-cycle and maintenance of wood material used in construction.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students recognise how different sawn and planed timber behaves when damp and can take this into account. They are able to select the most economic wood material according to its end use. They are able to conduct economic resource and material acquisitions and are proficient in the special features of building in the summer and winter, taking them into account as building progresses.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students know the wood species used for construction in Finland and their properties. They are familiar with the quality and measurement classifications and the ways of processing sawn and planed timber products.
