Objective

The student knows how to have a dialogue with an adult who is in crisis and suffering from mental health problems or an addiction problem. The student knows how to support the customer as needed, resource-oriented and participation-strengthening in cooperation with professionals .

• mental health and addiction problems
• Positive mental health and promotion of mental health
• Legislation
• Mental health and substance abuse services
• Encountering, identifying and rehabilitating a client in crisis
• encountering, identifying and resource-oriented guidance of a person suffering from a mental health problem and/or an addiction problem
• Encountering an aggressive person and his behavior patterns in different situations
• working methods of substance abuse and mental health work in social care

Location and time

Classroom teaching in spring 2025.
For simulations/practical exercises, the student can choose the group they will participate in.

There is a group exam during the classroom teaching sessions.

Completion alternatives

Possibility for AHOT (Accreditation of Prior Learning) in either mental health work or substance abuse work, or both. Access to the AHOT section requires at least 6 months of work experience in mental health work or substance abuse work. Please submit your work certificates via secure email to the course instructor.
