Objective
The students undergo professional induction under supervision gaining practical experience of work and the application of knowledge and skills in working life. The aim of the practical training period is to support the students in developing their professional knowledge, practical working life and personal skills.
The students can accomplish practical training either in Finland or in accordance with an adjusted personal study plan, abroad (3 months) in a working environment linked to their field of study.

Completion alternatives
An application for the identification of previously acquired competences (AHOT) must be submitted to the traineeship coordinator. The application should describe the skills acquired in the field of business administration and be accompanied by a certificate of employment. As proof of your skills, you will prepare either a written traineeship report or a video presentation of the same content, according to your choice, based on your previous work experience. In your report and presentation, you will follow the KAMK Business Studies Internship Reporting Guidelines.
Student workload
10 credits = 250 hours of practical work placement and 50 hours of reporting.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Accepted:
The student is able to find, as independently as possible, a placement in his/her home country or abroad that supports his/her studies and professional development. He/she attends the placement information sessions, fills in the placement contract form and has the contract approved by the employer and the placement coordinator before signing it.
The student will be able to find out independently about the organisation of the placement, its operating logic, the different tasks and the services offered.
The student will be able to work in the different tasks of the placement site, making use of the knowledge acquired during the studies. He/she will be able to recognise the importance of the different roles in the organisation.
They can reflect on their professional development and the relevance of their studies to it. The student will keep a diary and prepare a traineeship report in accordance with the guidelines.
Pass:
The student has not completed the practical training period or has not written the required reports according to the guidelines.

Further information
An internship contract is created on the internship form on the intranet under Internship details and Contract. After completing the contract, send the information to the coordinator by clicking on the Ready to sign contract button. You will then be assigned a supervisor and the contract will be signed electronically. You can then start your traineeship.
Feedback on the traineeship will be requested electronically via the same form.
The internship report is written on the KAMK essay pad and returned with attachments to the internship form.

Pass:

Assessment methods and criteria
The internship is evaluated by the student in his/her diary and report, by the employer's representative in the feedback from the workplace supervisor, and by the supervisor after reading the internship diary, the slideshow of the internship site and the report.
The evaluation focuses on the student's self-direction, the work done, the written description of the work and the process.
Prerequisites
At least 45 credits compulsory basic and professional studies completed according to personal study plan.
