Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

The student is evaluated using the following tasks:

10% of the final grade is allocated to active participation in the weekly contact lectures and completion of small weekly tasks (homework) and discussions (pass or fail).

30% of the final grade is allocated to the completion of a non-comprehensive business plan in teams of 3-4. A business always needs entrepreneur's idea about the business. During this assignment you develop a business idea, and based on your idea you start to plan your "future business". Your business idea can be a real one or imaginary. The purpose is to develop your entrepreneurial thinking and your ability to commercialize business ideas. (graded 1-5)

Business Plan Assessment criteria: team dynamic and management, conflict resolution, time keeping, presentation, answering all sections of the template, depth of your answers. (graded 1-5)

40% of the final grade is allocated to the final written exam (you must achieve at last 50% in order to pass the exam. For the exam you have to study assignments for each study module and the lecture slides. (graded 1-5)

20% of the final grade is based on your specialization group task: interviewing an entrepreneur . This is reflected in the business potential module. (graded 1-5)

Sisällön jaksotus

The scheduling of the course will be communicated during the introduction session. THe course requires a minimum attendance of 60%.

Tavoitteet

The students will adopt an entrepreneurial attitude, learn to understand fundamental business concepts and processes and the significance of business operations in society. The students will also be able to describe the basic functions of a company and understand the basics of running a profitable business.

The course is delivered as contact teaching during the autumn semester according to the timetable.

The learning material will be communicated during the introduction lesson.

Opetusmenetelmät

The course consists of compulsory lectures for all students, accompanied by independent learning assignments in Reppu. These assignments help you practice and demonstrate mastering and understanding of the key course content. The course also includes two group projects worth approximately 2 ECTS (about 50 hours of work). The project guides you in applying the knowledge you have learned. The project is evaluated numerically and is part of the course completion requirements.

The exam will be held in mid-November, with retake possibilities in December.

The course requires approximately 135 hours of student work. Lectures make up 35 hours, and the remaining 100 hours are related to the assessed project work and the course exam. These amounts are indicative; the actual workload depends on the time the student spends on the tasks."

The students are able to describe and give reasons for business and entrepreneurial practices. They are able to work independently according to existing knowledge and guidelines and can apply business methods and models in business operations. The students are able to work as group to achieve common goals and to justify their activities according to professional ethical principles.

The students are able to use business concepts extensively and combine them.
The students are able to analyse, compare, and critically assess their own business competence and business practices using acquired knowledge. They can work as a group advancing and developing the group's activities.
