Objective

The student deepens their knowledge of machining, NC programming, and learns to use an NC lathe and machining center. Additionally, the student acquires skills in MIG/MAG and TIG welding methods as well as sheet metal cutting and forming techniques.

Content

The course includes an in-depth examination of machining theory, selection of machining values, basics of NC programming, manufacturing parts using an NC lathe/machining center, as well as MIG/MAG and TIG welding methods and sheet metal handling techniques.

Materials

The course makes extensive use of various learning materials, including videos, online tutorials, and interactive exercises. The course uses standard works and current articles in the field, dealing with machining, NC programming, and welding techniques. A list of literature will be given at the start of the course.

Excellent skills in machining, programming of NC machines, and versatile skills in welding.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good ability to apply the theory of machining, use of NC machines, and understanding of welding methods.

Basic knowledge of machining, use of NC machines, and welding methods.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student has achieved an advanced understanding of machining, NC programming, and has learned to use an NC lathe and machining center. Furthermore, the student masters MIG/MAG and TIG welding methods as well as sheet metal cutting and forming techniques and is able to apply what they have learned in practice. The student has completed all course tasks and projects satisfactorily.

Failed: The student has not achieved sufficient understanding of the course content nor successfully completed the course tasks and projects.

Prerequisites

Completion of Manufacturing Technology 1 or equivalent knowledge is recommended.

Participants are expected to actively participate and be ready for independent and group work.
