Course content Fist aid 1:
• action at an emergency
• life-saving procedures in following situations:
• unconcious casualty
• bls (cpr + aed)
• choking
• severe bleeding
• shock
• sudden cases of illness
• wounds
• burns
• bone fractures
• joint injuries
• other injuries
• poisonings
• accident prevention
• health promotion
First aid 2:
Repetition of giving first aid
Cardiac arrest in a child, infant and drowning person
First assessment of the state and situation of the person being helped
Generating transaction data
A mechanism of injury used to assess the extent of tissue damage
Assessment of consciousness, breathing and circulation
Transferring the person to be helped and emergency transfer
First aid positions and observation
Fractures and spinal injuries
Head injuries
Frostbite and hypothermia

Objective
Students will be prepared for action in situations requiring first aid. They will be conversant with the basic principles of prevention and aid with the ability to work in cooperation with other first aiders and helpers.

Teaching methods
First aid 1
During the course participant gets to practise hands-on skills in various first aid topics. Aim of the course is to increase
participant`s courage to take action in emergency situations as well as in smaller everyday incidents.
