Tavoitteet

Students will know the business idea of their practical training place and the work involved in sports instruction. They will plan, carry out, and evaluate supervised exercise sessions for different types of groups, while continuing to develop themselves as instructors.

Sisältö

An 8-week practical training period in a municipal exercise/leisure department, a sports/exercise organisation and club or in public exercise/leisure companies and institutions (in Finland or abroad).

Opetusmenetelmät

You will independently carry out the practical training and complete the related documents after attending the practical training info.
A practical training supervising teacher will be appointed to you with whom you hold a start meeting and a closing meeting as well as keep contact during the training period.

Harjoittelu- ja työelämäyhteistyö

The practical training is completed in a sports and leisure industry organization that is either a public, private or non-profit sector organization (in Finland or abroad).

You must apply for a practical training place yourself. The tutoring teacher approves the practical training place. A contract will be signed with the practical training place. The length of the contract can be maximum six months.

Kansainvälisyys

You can complete the practical training abroad. In that case, you should start planning the international internship in good time, at least three months before you hope to start your training.

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

You may study the course during the summer if the pre-requisites are met and the tutoring teachers agrees on it.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

- 12 ECTS, which is 324 hours of student work. This can be completed in eight (8) weeks, if working 40 hours / week.
- If your working hours are less than 40 hrs / week, the practical training has to be completed within six (6) months.

PASS:
You take care of the pre-planning of the practical training. You participate in the practical training info, compile the online practical training form including setting objectives, and draw up a practical training contract. During the practical training period, you behave appropriately and act responsibly, adhering to the values ​​and professional ethical principles of the sports industry. You adapt to the operating culture of the practical training place and are able to perform work tasks after the orientation. You act self-directedly, are motivated and show a desire to develop your skills. You take others into account in your activities and are able to work flexibly in a group. You are able to apply the information and skills already covered in your studies and are able to justify your activities theoretically. You are able to plan, implement and evaluate supervised sport and exercise sessions. You are able to describe the administration of the host organization; the basic mission, operating idea and structure of the organization. You are able to evaluate your activities, realistically identify your level of competence and are capable of interactive feedback discussions. You report on the progress of the practical training, are in contact with the supervising teacher and return the required documents according to the agreed schedule.

FAIL
You don't perform the tasks of the practical training, you do not act responsibly, or do not return the required documents by deadline
