Objective

The student gets to know project and project work. He understands project activity as an opportunity in the development of companies and organizations according to their strategy and vision. He understands the phases of project activities and the related terminology. The student can assess the risks that may be related to the success of the project.

The student knows how to search for a funding source suitable for development and prepare/evaluate a project application. The student understands how to carry out change in the organization successfully.

Execution methods

In daytime implementation: Lectures, learning tasks, independent study and working in small groups

In multimodal implementation: Online studies

Accomplishment methods

In daytime implementation: Exam, learning tasks (e.g. project plan evaluation), project work with documentation (project plan and project report), project presentation (e.g. pitching video of the project implementation at the end of the project).

In multimodal implementation: Exam, learning tasks.

The course requires 135 hours of student work. The course does not include an alternative method of completion, but previous competence can be recognized and acknowledged.

Opintojakson toteutusaika 1.1.2026-31.12.2026. Opintojakson voi suorittaa etänä ja pääsääntöisesti itsenäisesti oman aikataulun mukaan. Opintojaksoon sisältyvät aloitustunnit ja asiantuntijaluentoja teamsin kautta. Luennot nauhoitetaan ja ovat katsottavissa oman aikataulun mukaisesti.

Student
- Partially manages the use of project and project activity concepts.
- Can partially describe the importance of project activities in the development of the organization's operations of their choice.
- Can partially justify and describe the project and project activities using the literature of the knowledge base.
- Partially knows how to choose appropriate operating methods and models for project implementation.
- Can make a partially justified assessment.
- Knows how to choose a funding source suitable for development.
- Can draw up a project plan that can be understood in at least its essential parts / can evaluate a project plan.
- Can satisfactorily evaluate and reflect on his own competence and the competence of the project team. Can work satisfactorily as a member of a project team.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student
- Mainly manages the use of project and project activity concepts.
- Can describe the possibilities of project activities in developing the operations.
- Can justify and describe project and project activities using the literature of the knowledge base.
- Can choose appropriate operating methods and models for project implementation.
- Knows mostly reasoned evaluation.
- Knows how to look for alternative regional, national and international funding opportunities and knows how to justify a funding source suitable for development.
- Can prepare a clear project plan, mainly in accordance with the financier's terms/can evaluate the project plan.
- Can evaluate and reflect on his own competence and the competence of the project team. He is able to function well as a member of the project team in a goal-oriented manner and promoting the project's goal.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student
- Thoroughly manages the justified and consistent use of project and project activity concepts.
- Understands excellently, with justification, the possibilities of project and project activity in developing the operations.
- Can versatilely justify and describe the knowledge base of project/project activities.
- Can choose, with critical reasoning, appropriate operating methods and models for implementing the project using literature.
- Can make a reasoned assessment.
- Can extensively search for alternative regional, national and international funding opportunities and can justify a funding source suitable for development.
- Can prepare a well-written project plan in accordance with the financier's terms and/or can evaluate the project plan
- Can realistically evaluate and reflect on his own competence and the competence of the project team. He is admirably able to work as a project team member in a goal-oriented manner and to promote the project's goal.
