Content scheduling

Theme 1:
Assisting the client/patient with activities of daily living on an individual basis and in accordance with the principle of holistic care
Basic skin care hygiene
Oral and dental care
Meeting the dying patient and his/her relatives. Psychosocial support
Good care of the dying person, dignified death and caring for the deceased

Theme 2
Monitoring excretion (fecal and urinal)
Incontinence
Aseptic and patient safety when using excretory equipment
One-off and indwelling catheterization and care of the catheterized patient

Theme 3
Nutritional recommendations and different diets
Nutritional status tests
Identification and planning of nutritional care needs as part of client/patient care
Nasogastric tube insertion and tube feeding

Theme 4
Fist aid 1:
• action at an emergency
• life-saving procedures in following situations:
• unconcious casualty
• bls (cpr + aed)
• choking
• severe bleeding
• shock
• sudden cases of illness
• wounds
• burns
• bone fractures
• joint injuries
• other injuries
• poisonings
• accident prevention
• emotional support

Objective

The student:
Is able to assess the care needs of the client/patient and use appropriate nursing methods to meet these needs.
Is able to act aseptically correct.
Is able to recognize the nutritional status of the client/patient and apply nutrition and care recommendations tailored for different age and target groups, as well as implement enteral nutrition in a patient-safe manner.
Is able to act according to the ethical principles of nursing when encountering a dying patient and their relatives.
Is able to identify a person in need of first aid and act appropriately in first aid situations.

First aid 1
During the course participant gets to practise hands-on skills in various first aid topics. Aim of the course is to increase
participant`s courage to take action in emergency situations as well as in smaller everyday incidents.
