Sisällön jaksotus

First Semester (160 hours)

Thesis work begins in Business Research and Development Methods 1
Modules: Academic Writing (3 ECTS) and Research and Development 1 (2 ECTS)
Final assignment in R&D1: Thesis Topic Proposal
Proposal presented in class and submitted in Reppu using the official template
Objective: define a relevant and feasible research topic

Second Semester (325 hours)

Prepare Master’s Thesis Research Plan
Include objectives, literature review, methodology, timeline, and workload division (if in pairs)
Present plan at the Master’s Thesis Seminar
Act as an opponent for another student’s or pair’s research plan

Third Semester (325 hours)

Conduct research, collect and analyse data
Complete the thesis report
Submit to supervisor and second evaluator for assessment
Present and defend thesis at the Master’s Thesis Seminar

Note: Students may accelerate the process to complete the thesis within one year if desired.

Can be completed remotely at student's own pace. The duration is usually three semesters.

Opetusmenetelmät

The master thesis can be written individually or in pairs.
Master thesis supervisor allocated after the Master thesis topic proposal is successfully delivered. The supervisor will guide in the process.
Master thesis guide in Reppu includes detailed instructions.

Master’s Thesis – KAMKstone Model
The Master’s Thesis process follows the KAMKstone model, integrating thesis work across all three semesters to evenly distribute the 30 ECTS workload (810 hours in total). This approach enables early preparation, supports timely graduation, and allows students to develop their research focus progressively.

First Semester – 160 hours
Thesis work begins in Business Research and Development Methods 1, comprising Academic Writing (3 ECTS) and Research and Development 1 (2 ECTS). The final R&D1 assignment is a Thesis Topic Proposal (incl. Introduction of the Master thesis), presented in class and submitted in Reppu using the provided template. The aim is to define a relevant and feasible research topic.

Second Semester – 325 hours
Students prepare a Master’s Thesis Research Plan outlining objectives, literature review, methodology, and timeline. The plan is presented at the Master’s Thesis Seminar, and each student acts as an opponent for another plan.

Third Semester – 325 hours
Students conduct research, collect and analyse data, and complete the thesis report. The work is assessed by the supervisor and second evaluator, followed by a presentation and defence in the Master’s Thesis Seminar.

Note: Students wishing to complete the Master’s studies in one year may accelerate the thesis process.
