Practical Training (Orientation) (5cr)

Objective

The students will be able to use the most common auxiliary devices for moving patients. They will be able to ensure that the patient is clean, dressed and gets enough rest. The students will be able to help the patients to eat and can treat patients suffering from constipation. The students will be proficient in carrying out intermittent and indwelling catheterization and treating urinary incontinence.

Content

Daily basic care:
- skin care
- helping with washing and getting dressed
- mouth and teeth care
- foot care
- ergonomics for nurses and ergonomic interventions
- helping a patient to move
- auxiliary devices used in basic care

- Luku 10 Päivittäiset toiminnot, osat: Ihon perushoito. Hoitoympäristön puhtaudesta ja turvallisuudesta huolehtiminen. Peseytymisessä ja pukeutumisessa avustaminen. Suun ja hampaiden hoito. Jalkojen hoito.
-Luku 12 Ravitsemus, osat: Nenä-mahaletkun laitto ja letkuruokinta. Ravitseminen mahalaukkuavanteen kautta.
- Luku 13 Erittäminen, osat: Ulostaminen, ummetuspotilaan hoito
Virtsaaminen, virtsateiden kerta- ja kestokatetroinnit sekä virtsanpidätyskyvyttömyyden hoito (pois kappaleet: Virtsan tarkkailu ja virtsan kemialliset perustutkimukset)
- Lisäksi itsenäisesti opiskeltavaksi:
Luku 9 Aktiviteetti, osat: Uni- valvetilan seuranta, uneen ja lepoon liittyvät ongelmat ja unta edistävä toiminta
Luku12 Ravitsemus, osa Ruokailun järjestäminen
Luku 13, Erittäminen, osa Ripuloivan potilaan hoito

Ohjatut harjoitustunnit (0,5 op) + tietotesti ja ohjattu harjoittelu harjoitteluyksikössä (4,5 op).

Ohjattu harjoittelu harjoitteluyksikössä (4,5 op=3 vk) on mahdollista hyväksilukea suoraan täyttämällä sähköinen AHOT –lomake. Lisäksi opiskelijan tulee suorittaa hyväksytysti näyttötesti.

The students are able to support customers'/patients' own strengths and resources
The students are able to explain factors that affect patient safety
The students are able to give examples of the importance of social and healthcare services in supporting the resources and assets of patients/customers
The students are able to work according to professional ethical principles with elderly people
The students are able to plan and carry out semi-independently basic nursing interventions supporting the resources and assets of patients/customers

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to make use of the customer's/patient's own assets in customer oriented nursing
The students are are aware of factors effecting patient safety and use safe working methods with patients
The students are able to present social and health services that support customers'/patients' own assets and resources
The students are able to give reasons for their work in line with ethical principles
The students are able to plan and carry out nursing interventions in a customer oriented manner
