Objective
The students can read, pronounce and write Russian handwriting with ease. They know enough Russian to be able to apply their grammar knowledge and vocabulary in simple service situations or on the telephone with knowledge of rules of politeness.

the student
- knows Russian pronunciation and intonation rules and can to apply them consistently in spoken situations
- has a good command of the essential grammar ( theme 2 ) and is able to apply the rules in oral and written situations
- has a good command of vocabulary and phrases needed in common service situations (theme 3 ) and is able to apply them fluently
Assessment criteria, good (3)
the student
- knows the Russian pronunciation and intonation rules and can apply them correctly in most cases
- knows the most important elements of the essential grammar ( theme 2 ) and can use them well enough to manage in oral and written situations without major misunderstandings
- knows enough essential vocabulary and phrases to be able to manage communication with clients in common service situations ( theme 3 )
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
the student
- knows the Russian pronunciation and intonation rules and can apply most of them in spoken situations
- knows some of the grammar elements of theme 2 and can use them in written situations using reference materials, e.g. grammar tables.
- understands enough of the main content in common oral service situations to be able to assist the client
