Descriptions

The Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism leads to a Bachelor of Hospitality Management (in Finnish: Restonomi (AMK)). The studies are worth 210 credits and take 3.5 years to complete. The degree consists of basic studies, professional studies, free-choice studies, practical training and a thesis. The degree is offered as blended, part-time studies, meaning that the studies will include two days of contact teaching per month and online lectures with independent assignments and group work. The contact teaching will be arranged in Helsinki.

At the start of the degree you will focus on gaining basic skills and knowledge after which you will apply the acquired theory into practice. You will study to obtain comprehensive customer-oriented product development and marketing competence as well as the knowledge and skills to successfully manage and develop tourism businesses. Tourism services consist of many different components, such as accommodation, catering, program and transport services, as well as event, conference and congress services. An important part of the studies are projects done in collaboration with local companies, providing you with the networks and abilities for employment after graduation. The final stages of the studies emphasize using the competence gained in practice and in different types of smart solutions.

Your personal study path will be supported by various project based studies, practical training periods and thesis. To broaden your personal study path, it is also possible to study a semester or two with one of our partner universities abroad or do your practical training in another country than Finland.
