Repairing Mould and Moisture DamageLaajuus (3 cr)

Code: TRW021

Credits

3 op

Objective

The students will be able to plan alternative repairs for a structure damaged by damp and microbes. They will be aware of the demands of building solutions, and the combined functioning of physical features in buildings and various materials. The students will know how to compile demolition instructions for a site damaged by microbes taking into account personal safety and protection of the environment.

Content

Main causes on moisture and microbe damage.
Disinfecting and drying methods.
Taking and preparing samples from a site damaged by damp.
The special features of repairing moisture damage in construction.
Protecting oneself during work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students recognise the points of various types of structures that are vulnerable to moisture/damp damage and can independently compile alternative methods of repairing them. They are able to take various health and structure related factors of microbe damage into account in a expert manner.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students are able to independently compile plans for repairing damage caused by moisture/damp and microbes. They are able to take the required samples and interpret the results. The students are able to select the correct methods of disinfecting and working on the site for repairing damage.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students recognise damage caused by damp and microbes and how they occur. They are able to take the impact of structural solutions on the occurrence of moisture damage into account. They are able to recognise different methods of repairing microbe damage. The students are aware of the official regulations and recommendations governing the repair of damage caused by microbes.
