AS AN ATHLETE:
- At the beginning of the academic year, the athlete contacts their own tutor teacher or coach and see that the course is suitable for the student's personal study plan and degree.
- At the beginning of the academic year, the athlete then contacts the dual-career teacher tutor for athletes to complete the course.
- The course is completed in Reppu learning environment and independently. The athlete familiarizes themselves with the course's learning objectives (each course has its own) and makes a plan on how to achieve them. The plan is sent to the dual-career teacher tutor, who approves this.
- The athlete trains throughout the academic year and performs other tasks mentioned in the plan.
- At the end of the academic year in May (those who started in the fall) or December (those who started in the spring), the student writes a report on their training, reflecting on the achievement of the course's learning objectives.
- The report and records of one's own training are sent to dual career tutor for reading and approval. There must be at least 135 hours of training per semester in order to receive 5 credits.
-The student must also answer the athlete survey before the course is approved. The dual career tutor will approve and finally record the points for the student.
- During one academic year 5 credits (one course) can be completed

AS A COACH:
- A sports instructor student who is interested in coaching contacts the course teacher and the sports academy coach to complete the course.
- The process starts by agreeing on coaching duties with the academy coach responsible for the sport.
- The student completes a coaching profile self-assessment of their own coaching skills.
- In an initial meeting, the academy coach and the student go through the goals for developing coaching skills that the student has set for themselves. In the initial meeting, clear coaching tasks and roles are agreed upon for the duration of the Sports Academy Coaching course.
- The student sets goals for developing coaching skills and concrete actions to achieve them based on the coaching profile self-assessment they have completed.
- The student holds a 30-minute meeting with the supervising teacher about their goals.
- The student prepares a training plan for their athletes for the duration of the Sports Academy Coaching course.
- The student coaches at VRSA Kajaani or Vuokatti academy exercises for at least one semester (approx. 2 upper secondary school/vocational school periods). The student keeps a record of the work they have done.
- At the end of the period, the student holds a final meeting/evaluation discussion with the academy coach. In the final meeting, the personal development as a coach is assessed together with the academy coach.
- The student writes a final report on their process, reflecting on the development of their own coaching skills in relation to the course's learning objectives and the goals set for themselves. In addition, the student asks the academy coach to confirm the timekeeping record.
- The teacher marks the credits for the student, if the course's learning objectives are met.
