Objective

You are able to describe the functions and meanings of nutrition for humans, as well as the main principles of a health-promoting diet. You are able to explain how nutrition can affect the development, performance, recovery, and well-being of a coached client. You are able to use reliable sources in planning and implementing nutritional guidance for key client groups of a sports instructor. Able to use nutrition-related concepts with justification.

Cornerstones of sports nutrition

Objective

You are able to describe the functions and meanings of nutrition for humans, as well as the main principles of a health-promoting diet. You are able to use reliable sources in planning and implementing nutritional guidance for key client groups of a sports instructor. Able to use nutrition-related concepts with justification.

Execution methods

Teaching is face-to-face teaching at the Vuokatti Sports College. Participating in face-to-face teaching via remote connection is not possible, except for a separately agreed-upon justified reason.

Accomplishment methods

The course includes lectures and exercises at the Vuokatti Sports Institute. The teaching is organized as face-to-face teaching and the practical exercises are carried out in cooperation with the sports academy. Passing the course requires participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the agreed exercises, i.e. in practice, active participation in the lessons marked in the syllabus and passing the final exam. The course does not have an alternative method of completion. The course requires approx. 106 hours of student work.
