Objective

The student is able to describe the risk factors of food safety and the operational guidelines defined in the legislation and the instructions of the Finnish Food Authority to ensure food safety.

Execution methods

The course's information session and test session are face-to-face teaching and remote participation is not possible. Possible retests are agreed with the teacher.

Accomplishment methods

The course includes an orientation information session and a test session. Passing the course requires participation in the information session and the test session on the day and time specified in advance, as well as independent study of the required contents. The course does not have an alternative method of completion.

The content areas of the hygiene passport defined in the guidelines of the Finnish Food Authority.

Location and time

The introductory session for the course will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and attendance is required to participate in the course. During the introductory session, information about the fees related to obtaining the hygiene proficiency certificate will be provided

Materials

The learning materials are described in Reppu.

Teaching methods

The course consists of a mandatory introductory session for everyone, during which the course requirements and study materials for independent study are reviewed. At the end of the course, a written hygiene proficiency test, supervised in a classroom, will be conducted.

Exam schedules

The hygiene proficiency test will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The test will be conducted in a supervised environment (no remote testing option available). The date for any necessary retake will be announced later.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student has participated in the information session and passed the hygiene passport test.

Further information

The hygiene proficiency certificate will only be recognized if the test was taken within the last 10 years, and the current level of proficiency is demonstrated through the AHOT procedure.
