Objective
The student is able to describe the risk factors of food safety and the operational guidelines defined in the legislation and the instructions of the Finnish Food Authority to ensure food safety.
Execution methods
The course's information session and test session are face-to-face teaching and remote participation is not possible. Possible retests are agreed with the teacher.
Accomplishment methods
The course includes an orientation information session and a test session. Passing the course requires participation in the information session and the test session on the day and time specified in advance, as well as independent study of the required contents. The course does not have an alternative method of completion.
Content
The content areas of the hygiene passport defined in the guidelines of the Finnish Food Authority.
Location and time
The introductory session for the course will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and attendance is required to participate in the course. During the introductory session, information about the fees related to obtaining the hygiene proficiency certificate will be provided
Materials
The learning materials are described in Reppu.
Teaching methods
The course consists of a mandatory introductory session, during which the course requirements and study materials for independent study are reviewed. At the end of the course, a written hygiene proficiency test, supervised in a classroom, will be conducted.

Group 1. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM. (max. 15 students)
Group 2. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM. (max. 15 students)
Group 3. Thursday, March 19 2026, from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM. (max. 15 students)
The group division for each test session will be announched in information session.
The test will be conducted in a supervised environment (no remote testing option available). The date for any necessary retake will be announced later.

Further information
The hygiene passport will only be recognized if the test was taken within the last 5 years and the current level of proficienc id demonstrated through AHOT procedure (work experience in Findland).
The hygiene passport course is primarily offered to tourism students. If there are free places on the course, students from other groups can also be admitted.
