Objective

The students will be familiar with the different types of work within disability services.
They will know the basic principles of social rehabilitation and case management in services for the disabled.
They will understand the diversity of human life and and are able to work in support of equality and diversity in services for the disabled.
The students will understand the restrictive measures required by law and are aware of how to apply them with professionalism and respect for their clients.
They will know various alternative communication methods (basics) and the opportunities provided by digital services and their use in services for the disabled.

Disability, disability Services legislation, autonomy, self-determination, diversity, accessibility and inclusion, disability policy and the values of work with the disabled, objectives and forms of work, methods that support communication, documentation, inclusion, social guidance, supported decision-making, the activities of disability stakeholder groups, medical care for the disabled

Teaching methods

Opintojakson laajuus on 5 op.
Opintojaksolla painottuu opiskelijan itsenäinen työskentely sekä ryhmätyöskentely.
Opintojakso koostuu lähiopetuksesta, pakollisesta kirjallisuudesta, itsenäisesti ja ryhmissä tehtävistä tehtävistä oppimisympäristössä sekä tenteistä.
Opintojakson oppimistehtävien ja verkkokeskusteluiden tarkempi ohjeistus löytyy kunkin tehtävän yhteydessä.
